3Good Enough
By W. Zollo
Please note the SteelSeries 5Hv3 headset is specified for lap/desktops, tablets and phones.

The headset is quite comfortable, lightweight and for gaming purposes offers good quality sound.

The instructions for set up are remarkably easy to follow and the product includes 2 adapters and one extension.
The length of the cords is an issue, long enough to work but short enough to dislodge frequently with non vigorous movement. (This fault is so revelant to the headsets usage and so obvious it should have been addresses before release.)

There is a retractable microphone (great for sype) and a comfortable decent sized volume dial with mute button which worked well enough.

It appears well made overall, wouldn't recommend them for music as I wasn't happy with the sound quality in that regard.

4Light, durable headphone will good ergonomics
By L. C Glover
SteelSeries 5Hv3 Gaming Headset appears to be designed to work with laptops and tablets primarily. The overall product works fairly well -- nothing unexpected from a sound quality standpoint.

Pros:
1) Light and comfortable on your head
2) Easily covers your ears providing a decent amount of outside noise reduction
3) Sound reproduction is fairly good and reasonable bass response
4) Nice feature is having the microphone retractable into the headphones so you can hide it when not using the microphone
5) The cable has a heavy duty textile around the primary cord to help with durability and lack of tangling and/or crimping

Cons:
1) The connections provided are a bit limited.
2) Cord length could be a bit longer to allow for more comfortable seating than being right on top of the device you are listening to.
3) Issue on how to connect to Xbox
4) Fairly large but a reasonable trade off considering the comfort.

Overall:
I am using these for listening to music or audio from my laptop and am quite happy with them in this use. It is nice to not use earbuds for listening purposes.

4Very good sound and ergonomics
By Michael J. Edelman
My first impression on unpacking these headphones was that they were very light- too light, I thought, to deliver good sound and extended bass. And so I was pleasantly surprised to discovered that these 'phones deliver really excellent extended bass response. It's not the thumpa-thumpa one-note boombox resonance some headphones deliver, either; it's an exceptionally clear and accurate reproduction. I listened to a wide range of music through these phones, and I can say that I would have no problem using these for music listening, apart from their utility for gaming and communications.

As I noted, they're extremely lightweight, which means you can almost (but not quite) forget you're wearing them. The cushions are very comfortable, and made of a material that breathes, so you don't find yourself with sweaty ears after a long session. The microphone can be instantly adjusted for length and position, or retracted into the headset at the touch of a finger. SOund quality from the microphone is very good as well. The cords are fabric covered, which should protect the wires from abrasion, and the twin stereo plugs can be swapped for an an Apple iOS style four-contact microphone so you can plug them into your iPad (as I did) or iPhone. In addition to gaming, they're also excellent for Skype or other communications use.

All in all, a very nice package that delivers first rate sound and ease of use at a fair price.
