44.5 Stars
By R. Gebhardt
These headphones are not the best out of the box. I use a x-fi sound card and with some tweaking, this is my best sounding system. Initially, they were too heavy in the mid frequencies. I have both the bass and treble turned up with about ~65% for the x-fi crystallizer setting. They are extremely clear and clean now. The sound is warm enough and the headphones are comfortable enough that I wear them for hours at a time. They have never come close to distorting. I listen to a wide range of music and they are very versatile.

These would be 5 stars, but they definitely take a little work to unleash the potential. I gave up on them at first but blew my other headphones. I decided to take the time to tweak the equalizer and other settings and have never regretted my purchase.

4Very Pleased
By James Watson
The first thing I notice about these headphones is that they are big, but surprisingly comfortable. I kept expecting that these would make my ears hot, but they are not any worse than some my other headphones that do not completely cover my ears. I also noticed more hissing than with my previous headphones. In my case this is not a problem with the headphones, but rather that these headphones are so sensitive that they show up my crappy sound card (I can now hear electrical interference from my hard drive when the sound is off). To take full advantage of these headphones you'll want to have a good equalizer. I HIGHLY recommend using the SRS Audio Sandbox overlay with these headphones (sound quality went from above average to awesome!).

I use these at work, and I would rate noise dampening at a 4 out of 5. I would also rate the construction/durability at 4 out of 5.

4Good Product, Overall
By Salty F
The product description gives these headphones too much hype, IMHO. Doesn't mean that this is a bad product, but some may expect more than these headphones provide.

Take noise isolation for example. They do block some of the high frequency noise out, but you can still hear noisy computer fans, you keyboard when typing and people talking. For me, this is no problem at all, I like to be aware of what is going on around me, but for better noise blocking look for active noise canceling or DJ headphones. My coworker has Sennheiser HD-280s they are much better at blocking the noise.

The build quality is good. The cord is thick and sturdy, but I whould have been much happier if it was coiled. The material that comes in contact with your body (on head band and ear cups) looks very gentle. It is still in one piece, but I wouldn't expect it to last long.

Sound quality is fairly good. So far I only had these connected to my Dell laptop and the integrated sound card on it is pretty bad. So it's hard to say how good they really are. The bass response is good and the highs are good enough for me to hear MP3 compression artefacts on a 192kbps file. So let's leave it that. I guess, most people are going to have it plugged in into their stock AC97 sound card anyways.

To summarize, these are good headphones for a PC, but you can get something very similar in the $30 range and, probably, with much better noise blocking as well. Or you can get something much better than this in the $80-$100 range.
