5Sennheiser, great company. PC 350 SE's great headsets. What's not to love?
By Master_LFD
I purchased a set of PC 350's from Amazon a while back and loved them. Great fit, great sound. I travel a lot for work and take these along with my gaming laptop to play games on the road. After one trip, I got home to find my PC 350's had broke in my luggage. I called Sennheiser about a repair. They had me ship them in and it cost me $70 to repair. After I sent them in I decided to buy a Razer headset to hold me over until my PC 350's arrived. I bought the Razer - Carcharias headset, brought it home and the next day took it back. It had the most terrible sound quality compared to the PC 350. I then got the Razer - Tiamat Expert 2.2. This had much better sound quality but still wasn't even close to the PC 350. A couple weeks later a package arrived from Sennheiser. Much to my amazement when I opened the package expecting to see my repaired headset, I saw a brand new Sennheiser PC 350 SE headset! That's right, they gave me a free upgrade to a brand new headset! Talk about a great company!!

So here are my pros and cons...

Pros:
1. Great sound quality! Awesome base!! Best sound from any headset I've ever had (and I've had a ton). Perfect for directional sound in FPS. I get called a hacker all the time because I can hear footsteps coming and which direction they are coming from before even seeing the person. I game with music lots of time, great music quality.

2. Comfort A+++++++++++++++ The over the ear design it great, I can wear these things for hours. The other the head strap is so soft you don't even know it's there.

3. The mic is awesome! Pull it down to unmute, rotate it up to mute. You here a small "click" so you know when the mute/unmute takes place.

4. The cord design is far better than the original PC 350's. It's a braided cord which keeps the twists out of it. Also there is no inline volume control (my old one would keep getting caught on the chair and finally the clip ripped off). The volume control is now on the outside of the right ear cup. Very convenient and durable.

5. Noise canceling is INSANE! I can't believe how good the noise canceling works on these! I'm one that likes to immerse myself in the game I'm playing. You will not hear a thing outside of what's coming from your computer. I game a lot with my brother, we talk on Skype. The noise canceling is so good that he has to tell me when my phone is ringing. I'll have my phone sitting in front of me on the desk and never hear it ring with these headphones on. I actually need to have one ear cup off one ear when I'm expecting an important call or if the family is around.

6. These headsets come with a padded travel case. No more getting these things broken in my luggage!

7. As stated before, Sennheiser is a great company that stands behind their products! Bravo!!!

Cons:

NONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

5Two thumbs up, much better than the original PC 350

My son is a gamer and needed a new headset to replace the original PC 350 Sennheiser headset we purchased back in 2009. (We had to replace that one once due to a broken cord, then the replacement eventually developed the same issue.) This "special edition" headset is a much better product in several respects. The cord is braided and seems much more durable, and the volume control is in the earcup instead of the cord, preventing him from constantly pulling on the cord to adjust the volume (which probably contributed to the cord wearing out so fast - twice.)

As with the previous model, the earcups go completely around his ears, and are very comfortable for him. (He has had issues with other brands.) He also loves the setup of the mic in this model much better than the PC 350. When he slides the mic up and hears the click, it mutes it to allow privacy. With the original 350, he had to mute it at the volume control on the cord. This special edition also includes a nice, hard-sided case. This product appears to be better designed and a (hopefully) much more durable product, absolutely worth the upgrade from the original PC 350.

5Sennheiser

I regret not picking Sennheiser over the past years. Couple days ago, I got my PC 350 Special Edition, along with Creative Sound Blaster Z and it took around 5 minutes to tweak the sound card's software with the headset. Result? an unprecedented sound quality with a very well built microphone. Expensive? Yes, but boy is it worth the money.

Make sure that you have a sound card that shows this headset's true potential, though. The Sound Blaster Z proved to be a great sound card. Reason I'm saying this is because I don't think an on-board motherboard sound solution would do it any justice to be honest.

Hope that helps.
